Start of the Le Mans 24 Hour race, France, 1965. Fords and Ferraris dominate the start, but Ferrari went on to a clean sweep of the first three places. Note the way the cars are parked on the left side of the track. At this time the start still took the form of drivers running across the track to climb into their cars, rather than the race beginning with them already seated in their vehicles. This type of start was abandoned for safety reasons in 1970.
