Henry Ford visiting Dagenham, Essex, c1930. Ford (left) arriving to inspect the site of his company's new car factory. When production began at the site in 1931, Ford's Dagenham plant was the most modern and best-equipped car factory in the world outside of Detroit. It was also the largest car production plant in Europe.
