'Spirit of America Sonic I' breaking the Land Speed Record, Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA, 1965. Breedlove broke the Land Speed Record twice in the jet-propelled car in 1965, with a fastest speed of 600.601 mph on 15th November, making him the first man to break the 600 mph barrier. His record stood until 1970 when Gary Gabelich surpassed it in his rocket-powered 'Blue Flame'.
