1.5 litre Mercedes in action, Tripoli Grand Prix, Tripoli, Libya, 1939. Two of these cars were built specifically for the 1939 Tripoli Grand Prix, when it was announced that the race would be restricted to voiturette (1500cc engined) cars. Hermann Lang won the race in one of the cars, with Rudolf Caracciola second in the other. After the Tripoli Grand Prix they were never raced again.
