1937 Alvis Speed 25. The first Alvis appeared in 1920. Whilst conventional in appearance, it had brisk performance, which set the seal on further cars made by the company. In 1935 they announced their 3.5 litre model, which developed into the Speed 25. Alvis never built their own bodywork preferring to use specialist coachbuilders - this one is by Charlesworth of Coventry. Malcolm Campbell remarked after testing one ...it behaved like the thoroughbred that it is.
