1947 Brush Pony Electric Milk Float. The Express Dairy Company was the first to experiment with small electrically (battery) driven milk delivery vehicles in 1932 using the Birmingham-made GV 5/7cwt delivery truck. These were an immediate success and gradually the horse drawn milk floats were taken out of service. Brush of Loughborough, well-known manufacturers of electrical equipment, started making a range of electric delivery vehicles in 1946, of which this is one of the oldest surviving.
