Sukkot (or Succot) is the plural of succah, meaning a temporary hut or booth. These are made of greenery, and the family eat meals inside the booth. The engraver Bernard Picart was born a Catholic in Paris. His depictions of Jewish ritual and tradition are an important resource for the study of Jewish life as well as being of interest from an art historical perspective.
