Tailor's workshop, Whitechapel, London, (c1960?) Interior of Z Nathan's tailoring workshop at 80 Cable Street. Between 1881 and 1914, two million Jews left Eastern Europe, fleeing poverty and persecution. Some 150,000 settled in England, many taking up tailoring and working long hours in sweatshops.
