John Arthur Roebuck, British politician, (1881). John Arthur Roebuck (1801-1879) served as an MP for Bath and Sheffield. In 1855 he presided over a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the mismanagement of the Crimean War. Roebuck had a reputation in the House of Commons for asking hostile questions of governments of all parties. An engraving from Alexander Charles Ewald's The Right Hon Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield, and His Times, William Mackenzie, (London, 1881).
