A folio from Boethius, Consolation of Philosophy, 1910. Ancinius Manlius Severinus Boethius (480-c525) was a Roman Christian philosopher and author. He wrote his Consolation of Philosophy in prison in Pavia awaiting execution for treason against Theodoric the Great, the Ostrogoth ruler of Italy. A print from The Connoissevr', (London, 1910).
