Lionel Cranfield, 1st Earl of Middlesex, (1824). Cranfield (1575-1645), a successful London merchant, held several offices including Surveyor-General of Customs, Master of Requests, Master of the Court of Wards and Liveries, Master of the Wardrobe, and Chief Commissioner of the Navy. He was MP for Hythe in 1614 and for Arundel in 1621.
