Male and female costume, late 15th-early 16th century, (1910). A couple of the time of Henry VII, (1485-1509). The pyramidal headdress which developed from the broad band of the steeple rested on the forehead and fell on either side of the face. During the first part of its existence an ornamental crown was in use, shown here, (but subsequently this developed into a simple hood). The man wears huge feathers in his hat. Illustration from British Costume during 19 Centuries by Mrs Charles H Ashdown, (London, 1910).
