Portrait after Holbein of Margaret Wotton, Marchioness of Dorset, wearing a pyramidal style headdress with ribbed bands of silk upon the forehead forming the foundation, a small portion of hair appearing underneath it. Round the face is a wired framework of the kennel form, over which is a broad band which is looped up on one side and pinned on top of the head. The bag which previously hung down the back is also brought up and pinned. Illustration from British Costume during 19 Centuries by Mrs Charles H Ashdown, (London, 1910).
