Henry VIII in the Field of the Cloth of Gold, 1520, (1870). A wood engraving after bas-reliefs in the Hotel of the Bourg Herold, Rouen. Lavishly decorated tents were constructed at the field of the Cloth of Gold, the meeting place near Calais in France, where Henry VIII of England and Francis I of France met to arrange an alliance between their countries between June 7 and 24, 1520.
