Lord Melbourne, British statesman, (1886). William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne (1779-1848) served as Prime Minister in 1834 and 1835-1841. A mentor to Queen Victoria, his most lasting memorial is the city of Melbourne, Australia, which was named after him in 1837.
