Nelson's Column, Trafalgar Square, London, 1905. The column is wreathed in flowers, and each lion supports a large wreath. Flags have also been hung from the column. The square is completely filled with people. This was in order to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. The statue of Nelson was erected on the column in 1843 and the lions, created by Edwin Landseer, were installed in 1867. One can see in the background the National Gallery building and St Martin in the Fields.
