Roof bosses, Southwark Cathedral, London. A pile of medieval roof bosses in Southwark Cathedral, presumably during restoration work. They are carved with gargoyle-like faces, floral designs, heraldic emblems and other devices. Roof bosses are round raised decorative knobs at the point where the ribs meet in a vaulted ceiling.
