Men painting at Tilbury, Essex, c1945-c1965. A team of four men painting the hull of a vessel in the Dry Docks at Tilbury. Dry docks are used for the repair and cleaning of vessels, allowing access to a ship's lower parts. After World War II Tilbury received container cargo traffic.
