`Viking' barque at the West India Dock, Isle of Dogs, London, c1945-c1965. With lighters moored in front. Lighters were used to either transfer goods between vessels or between a vessel and the quayside. The warehouse sheds visible in the distance are part of the West India Docks which were built between 1799 and 1806.
