Men painting a vessel, Tilbury, Essex, c1945-c1965. Men at work painting a vessel in the dry docks. They have been lowered down the side of the ship on planks of wood. Dry docks are used for the repair and cleaning of vessels. After the 2nd World War Tilbury Docks were adapted to receive container cargo traffic.
