Gateway, Kirby Hall, Northamptonshire, 1925. Gateway in the north wall of the forecourt at Kirby Hall. This wall was rebuilt in the early Stuart period, and the combination of classical motifs with contemporary embellishment, such as the rusticated blocks in the archway, is typical of the period. The wall and gate look neglected, with masonry missing in one of the niches, and a makeshift wooden gate to keep out sheep or other animals.
