Sissinghurst Castle, Cranbrook, Kent, 1915. West range of Sissinghurst Castle, begun by the Baker family, seen before the house was purchased by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson in 1930. In the Tudor period, Gothic arches such as that over the door, were translated from stone into brick.
