Bawley boats moored at Gravesend, Kent, c1945-c1955. The term bawley refers to small coastal fishing vessels with a short mast and top mast which are peculiar to the Thames Estuary. Each vessel displays a unique identifying number painted on the side of the boat. In the distance is a steamboat.
