The 'Royal Eagle' paddle steamer with Tower Bridge in the background, London, c1945-c1965. The 'Royal Eagle' lies at anchor, with the famous London landmark Tower Bridge behind, designed by Horace Jones. The bridge has a movable central section which opens to allow tall ships through. The 'Royal Eagle' was one of many ships requisitioned by the Royal Navy during World War II, when it was used as an accommodation ship.
