View across the River Thames, London, c1945-c1965. The floating Lambeth Pier is visible in the foreground and the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben beyond. The Victoria Tower has scaffolding round it, and Westminster Abbey is to the left. The Palace includes the House of Lords and House of Commons and was rebuilt to the designs of Charles Barry following a fire in 1834.
