Families on Tower Beach, London, c1945-c1955. Adults and children relax and play on Tower Beach, Tower Hamlets, London. Children play in the sand or paddle at the water's edge, while adults relax in deck chairs. The Tower Pier, a jetty for passenger boats on the River Thames, can be seen a little way upstream. The artificial beach was made just in front of the Tower of London, part of which can be seen on the right; the sand was eventually washed away.
