An attic in Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire, 1949. Wooden beamed attic with a ladder and staircases on either side of the chimney breast leading to bedrooms. The attics provided accommodation for servants. The manor, once the home of the artist William Morris, was built c1570 and enlarged the following century.
