Kirby Hall, Northamptonshire, 1997. Kirby Hall was one of the finest houses built in the 17th century. Begun in 1570 by Sir Humphrey Stafford, it was completed by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Elizabeth I. The main entrance on the north front giving onto the forecourt, as remodelled in 1638-40, is seen here.
