The Collation Seat, Cleeve Abbey, Somerset, 1999. Cleeve Abbey was founded as a Cistercian monastery in 1198 and many of the surviving buildings date from the 13th century. The Collation Seat in the north wall of the cloister is a rare survival. It is where the abbot sat during the daily spiritual reading.
