World War I guardrooms at Pendennis Castle, Cornwall, 1997. Here the World War I guardrooms are reconstructed with army-issue trestle beds and bedding. Pendennis Castle was begun in 1540 as part of Henry VIII's defence of the south coast, and continued to serve a military function until after World War II.
