Detail of a column capital, Finchale Priory, Durham, 1999. Detail of a the capital of a column from a blocked archway in the north wall of the choir of the priory church; it is decorated with leaves and pine cones. Finchale Priory was founded in 1196 as a Benedictine Priory on the site of the hermitage of St Godric.
