Upper gun deck, Pendennis Castle, Cornwall, 1998. Showing the upper gun deck, complete with cannon and powder kegs. The original part of the castle consisted of the keep which provided a series of gun platforms to protect Falmouth harbour. Pendennis Castle was begun in 1540 as part of Henry VIII's defence of the south coast.
