British Museum, Great Russell Street, London, 2000. The Museum was built in 1823-52 in a Classical style to designs by Sir Robert Smirke to house the growing national collection. The Round Reading Room was added in the central courtyard in 1854-7. In 2000 the British Library moved to a new site in Euston Road and the Great Court was roofed over with a glass dome.
