Nave in the priory church with decorated pillars, Lindisfarne Priory, Northumberland, 1988. The ruins of the priory church date from 1093-1140. A monastery was founded on Lindisfarne by St Aidan in 634 AD. Nothing of that remained when a Benedictine Priory was founded there from Durham Cathedral. The other ruins date largely from the 13th and 14th centuries.
