Somerset House and Waterloo Bridge, Westminster, London, 2002. The first bridge on this site was opened 18 June 1817, the 2nd anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. This was replaced with the present one 1937-42. The oldest part of Somerset House was built 1547-50 and was redesigned by 1609 and 1627, some of which was under the supervision of Inigo Jones. This was added to in the 1770s with the area nearest to the water, which reached the south terrace at the time.
