The Sands, Margate, Kent, 1890-1910. A crowd gathers on The Sands at Margate, drawn by some entertainers with a harp. Margate was one of the first villages on the Isle of Thanet to develop as a seaside resort. It was here that the bathing hut was invented in 1753.
