Bathing machines at Cliftonville, Margate, Kent, 1890-1910. A view looking down onto The Sands in Margate with the coastline stretching beyond. A line of bathing machines can be seen in the water. They were designed by Benjamin Beale in Margate in 1753 and ensured privacy for swimmers.
