King Arthur's Castle, Tintagel, Cornwall, 1945-1980. Tintagel Castle is dramatically sited, partly on a coastal cliff and partly on an island, with a footbridge connecting it to the mainland. It is associated in legend with King Arthur. However, the present castle dates from the mid 13th century. This view shows part of the Inner Ward, on the island.
