Clifton Suspension Bridge, Clifton, Bristol, 1954.The competition to design the bridge was won by the 24 year old Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who based his design on an Egyptian temple. Started in 1836, the construction was delayed due to lack of funds and was not completed until 1864, five years after Brunel's death.
