River Thames, Hammersmith, London, c1945-1965. This water-powered flour mill was built in the 18th century but has been extensively altered since. A mill is recorded on the site in the Domesday Book (1086). This picture shows the mechanism used for hoisting sacks of corn into the top of the mill for grinding
