Former hat factory, Park Lane, Frampton Cotterell, South Gloucestershire, 1991. This hat factory was in use between 1818 and 1865, and is seen here undergoing renovation. The wearing of hats was far more common in the 19th and early 20th centuries than it is today, and was often considered a sign of social standing.
