Teofani Cigarette Factory, Brixton, London, 1916. These women are making and packing cigarettes. The fenestrated roof and low-hung lights help with visibility. This picture was taken in 1916, a time when women were increasingly to be seen in factories while men were at war. This would play an important part in the struggle to gain the vote for women.
