Changsha Tongguan stoneware water pot, late Tang dynasty, China, late 9th century. A Tongguan water container from the Changsha kilns in the form of a mythical fat dog-like animal with wide open mouth forming the spout and a ringed handle on its back. The upper half of the body is covered with a greenish glaze with underglaze brown and green stripes. The lower part is unglazed revealing the greyish brown body.
