Trefoil box with applique of a bushy-tailed fox, late Tang dynasty, China, 9th-early 10th century. A covered box of trefoil shape copying a Tang silver box shape. The cover is moulded as a convex lotus leaf with raised double line edges, the centre has an applique of an outstretched bushy-tailed fox covered with a white glaze and delicately potted. The foot, base and central section of the sides are unglazed.
