Celadon bowl with carved floral design, Northern Song dynasty, China, 12th century. A shallow celadon bowl rising from a comparatively small foot. The rim is thin and slightly curved in and the centre of the interior. The cavetto is carved with a freely drawn lotus flower and three-petalled leaves incised with combing under a double-lined border. The piece is covered in an even blue-green, celadon glaze apart from the base which is unglazed.
