White glazed stem bowl, late Jin-early Yuan dynasty, China, 13th century. A white glazed stemmed bowl from Huoxian kiln, Shanxi province, the steeply rounded sides have a flared rim and numerous concentric potting lines springing from a short, hollow, splayed stem. It is covered overall with a transparent ivory-tinted glaze of Ding type pooling slightly on the interior, with five small, neat spur marks in the centre. The unglazed base of the stem reveals the white porcellaneous ware and five additional spur marks on the rim of the stem.
