Bronze basin painted with cloud scrolls, Western Han dynasty, China, 2nd century BC. A painted bronze water basin with slightly everted rim. A slightly concave ridge surrounds the body about one-third down the exterior on which two taotie mask handles are superimposed. The basin is extensively painted inside and out with cloud scrolls similar to those found on lacquers from the Mawangdui tomb, dated c162 BC.
