Carved lacquer bowl with birds among peonies, Late Ming dynasty, China, 1st half of 17th century. A carved red lacquer bowl with decoration of two birds amid peonies. The interior of the bowl is lined with silvered sheet bronze. The positioning of the two birds in relation to each other is as commonly found on ceramics of the period.
