Early Qing dynasty brushpot decorated with prunus and poem, carved by Pu Cheng. The body of oval section resting on three low feet, is delicately carved in low relief with a pendant branch of flowering prunus, beside an incised poem and incised signature Zhong Qian, the pen name of the famous carver Pu Cheng (b 1582) regarded as founder of the Jinling school who survived into the early Qing dynasty. The bamboo is well patinated.
