Gourd-moulded bowl with lacquer interior, China, c1736-c1795. Qing dynasty circular bowl, the exterior moulded with design of stylised ribbon-threaded circles and a Buddhist emblem between key fret borders. The base has a 'Qianlong shang wan' mark (for the amuseument of Emperor Qianlong) in a double line bordered square. The interior is coated with black lacquer and embellished with circular gold lacquer roundels probably mons. The piece clearly shows that it was made using a reuseable mould.
